Captivating Collective Enthusiasm: NODE08 Exhibition

From new forms of human/machine interaction, interactive spatial experiences, playful digital games to the latest technological experiments: NODE08 gathered the spirit and drive of the vvvv community in one space, back when digital art was not featured on the big gallery line ups yet.

With a focal point on generative created objects and interactive works the exhibition featured various works by international artists using software as their main tool. The halls of Weißfrauen Diakonie Church Frankfurt was the birth place of what later became one of the central landmarks of NODE Festival. The pieces exhibited intensively examinated the generative work processes behind to the visitors.
Next to the exhibition the NODE08 Cinema screened multiple linear video works by selected artists.

Impressions

NODE08 gathered various works by renown international artists like Marc Fornes, Skylar Tibbits or Pinar Yoldas highlighted an intense examination with generative work processes to the visitor. Artworks among others:

What seems at first glance like human made scribbles and drawings arranged in a wall covering installation turns out to be a succession of lines, so complex and precise that only a machine could produce them.

Eno Henze is an artist, scenographer and designer based in Berlin and Frankfurt. His works examine how machines transform aesthetic reasoning and notions of the human. Combining theory with technology and computation, Henze creates images and spaces that oscillate between great complexity and clarity, between human and machine origin.
