Jules LaPlace is a programmer and artist who builds collaborative art-making software on the web. Various projects may be found on the website asdf.us, including a microtonal harp, an ASCII art editor, and programmatic image editing tools. They are currently based in Berlin.

 

Their collaboration with Adam Harvey on Exposing.ai led to the takedown of several facial recognition datasets, and they also contribute to VFRAME, which develops computer vision for open source investigations.

LaPlace is the developer of Spawn, the AI-tool behind Holly Herndon’s AI-music compositions. Additionally, Jules plays synthesizers in the horror disco group Pavone Cristallo.
