Carolin Liebl
Carolin Liebl and Nikolas Schmid-Pfähler have been working as an artist duo since 2012; their works are often sculptural, partly kinetic, or robotic, sometimes installative. Liebl and Schmid-Pfähler deal with the effects of technical developments on aesthetic and social aspects of human and non-human life. The medium – technology – is both a carrier of social conventions and a pictorial material. Their objects of different dimensions, form and energetic expression examine the nature of electrical energy and the self-perception of man in relation to it.
The duo completed their art studies at the University of Art and Design Offenbach am Main in 2017 with distinction. In August 2018 the duo realized their second solo exhibition “WIR|ES” at the “CADORO – Centre for Arts and Science”, Mainz. Their most recent group exhibitions include the “International Meeting of New Artistic Forms” at the Azkuna Art Center, Bilbao, Spain (2018), the “Robotics – Festival of Art and Robotics” in Trieste, Italy (2018), the exhibition “inter_nal movements”, which was created as part of their artist in residence 2018 at the Espronceda Center for Art & Culture in Barcelona, Spain, and the WRO Biennale in the National Museum Wroclaw, Poland (2017).
