Chaos Computer Club
Frankfurt/Main, Germany
Around the same time of our meetup, the public meeting Offenes Chaos took place at CCC Hackquarter where you can come by to discuss topics such as technology, its social impact, art, culture and education within technical environments. After arriving at welcoming CCC and meeting fellow hackers and each other, we started with the presentations of the evening.
Giving us an introduction to sleep, Martin Dörr presented Latent Entity, his participatory digital organism activated and controlled by human sleep in real time on a global scale. He shared insights into the prototyping process and his ongoing artistic research. Together, we reflected on the historical evolution and commodification of fatigue and the invisible infrastructures of capitalist-technical sleep systems.
Max Levy gave insight into Sleepdancing, a novel approach to guided sleep in the form of digital danceworks. Through choreographed bodies and choreographed code, we dove into the exploration of guided hypnosis and digital art designed for introspective relaxation.
No NODE+CODE meetup ends without fresh drinks and delicious soup — this time with help of a bar run by the CCC. Thank you for joining us again. We’ll see you again in July!
Born in Tokyo and raised in the USA, Max Masahiro Levy works between choreography, sound, and visual design. Trained at San Francisco Ballet, he worked with numerous ensembles in the US and Europe before becoming an independent artist in 2017. Since then, Max lives in Frankfurt am Main, producing introspective works for stage and installation, blending meditation, sound art, and dance for venues such as Stadttheater Gießen, Künstlerhaus Mousonturm, saasfee*pavillon, tanzhausNRW, CNDB, among others. He has held residencies with STL Tallinn, Staatstheater Darmstadt, among others, and was a participant of the Choreographic Coding Lab Köln 2023, as well as receiving nominations from Dance Europe and tanz magazine for his continued work as a performer.
Martin Dörr (1990, Pirmasens) is an artist and system/game designer based in Berlin. His practice explores collective structures, systemic behaviors, and structural couplings—often through simulations, performative systems, and collaborations with non-human and technical agents.
He holds a Diploma in Fine Arts from the University of Art and Design (HfG) Offenbach and an M.A. in System/Game Design from the University of Applied Sciences (HTW) Berlin. In 2018/19, he studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China, supported by a DDA scholarship. His artistic work has been exhibited internationally; both his practical and theoretical research has been supported, e.g., by the Deutschlandstipendium, the Marielies-Schleicher Award, and Stiftung Kunstfonds.
Since 2015, Dörr has been a member of Blockadia*Tiefsee, an interdisciplinary collective that investigates technological and ecological transformations through artistic research and participatory formats.
