Dancing with Paper Monsters

During NODE's first Young Workshop children were invited to discover the world of handmade frame-by-frame film animation.

Using simple tools such as paper and scissors, the participants painted little monsters, cut them and brought them to life through 3D skeleton tracking and rigged character animations.

Alessandro Maggioni and Anton Mezhiborskiy invited the young creative minds to join their animation workshop. Self-made monsters made with paper were animated through 3D tracking and all participants were able to jump, dance and interact with their own creatures and their shadows.
Behind the scenes, stop motion animation techniques were introduced and an overview of the used technology was explained.
