Ellen Blumenstein
As founding director of the Hamburg-based cultural program IMAGINE THE CITY (ITC), Ellen Blumenstein has been mediating cultural concerns to a diverse public since 2017.
Originating from Europe’s largest inner-city urban development project, HafenCity, IMAGINE THE CITY positions itself in an international context and aims to contribute to current discussions on the role of culture for the development of future cities.
To this end, long-term projects deliberately intertwine urban planning and aesthetic strategies, thus making it clear that culture is never something merely additional, but is at its core involved in the identity formation of an urban space.
