Join the house warming party for Frankfurt’s new space for digital practice

display opens its doors with an evening of live-coded visuals, modular sound and hands-on exploration of a new experimental space for digital practice.

After our soft opening event and two months of painting, planning, and tinkering, the time has finally come: display is on!

display is the new space for digital practice in the center of Frankfurt. As a walk-in screen and interface, experimental laboratory, and community space, it promotes creative, critical, and practical engagement with technology.

On February 18, 2026, the display team invites you to a big housewarming party!

Together with Eileen O’Sullivan, Head of Digital, Citizens and International Affairs, and our partners from the Digitalization Department of the City of Frankfurt am Main, we are connecting the last cables and getting display up and running. You will get an insight into the first program items and offers and will be able to take a detailed look around.

Shammer & Luggez will provide the appropriate algorithmic sounds. Using modular synthesizers, they weave recorded sounds into a lively, completely improvised live set, consistently pushing the boundaries of electronic music.

Live coding artist Naoto Hieda will provide the appropriate interactive visuals. Naoto will bring our displays to life and invite you to interact with display.

→ The following day, Naoto will offer a workshop where you can learn how to create interactive visuals using the live coding software Hydra – and how to play with display.

Drop by for bread and salt, to get to know each other, unpack boxes, look around, and switch on displays together!

THU February 19, 14:00-17:00 play with display: NODE+CODE workshop on live coding with Hydra and Naoto Hieda—Naoto will show you how to generate visuals in real time and map them onto the displays at display.
WED February 25, 12:00-14:00 display on display: Lunch with display designers. Marcel Backschneider and YRD.Works will talk about their work, why the space has become so green, and look forward to your interest.
THU February 26, 17:30-18:30 AI Touch to Go: AI Frankfurt Rhein Main e.V. will provide practical updates on current useful developments in AI. Today: how to structure notes.
SAT February 28, 12:00-16:00 Digitale Welten Hackday: Activities for children and young people with soldering, crafting, and lots to discover about computers. Every two weeks, a great opportunity for young tech fans and anyone who wants to become one, who likes to experiment and tinker with technology.

Nach unserem Soft Opening und 2 Monaten Streichen, Planen und Werkeln ist es endlich soweit: display ist on!

display ist der neue Raum für digitale Praxis im Zentrum Frankfurts. Als begehbarer Screen und Interface, Experimentierlabor und Community-Space fördert er die kreative, kritische und praktische Auseinandersetzung mit Technologie.

Am 18.02.2026 lädt euch das display Team zur großen House Warming Party ein!

Gemeinsam mit Dezernentin für Digitales, Bürger*innen und Internationales Eileen O’Sullivan und unseren Partnern von der Stabsstelle Digitalisierung der Stadt Frankfurt am Main stecken wir die letzten Kabel ineinander und bringen display zum Laufen. Ihr bekommt Einblick in die ersten Programmpunkte und Angebote und könnt euch ausführlich umschauen.

Für passende algorithmische Klänge sorgen Shammer & Luggez. Auf modularen Synthesizern verweben sie aufgenommene Klänge zu einem lebendigen, vollständig improvisierten Live-Set und verschieben dabei konsequent die Grenzen elektronischer Musik.

Für die passenden interaktiven Visuals sorgt Live Coding Artist Naoto Hieda. Naoto bringt unsere Displays in Aktion und lädt euch ein, mit display zu spielen.

→ Am nächsten Tag bietet Naoto übrigens einen Workshop an, in dem ihr selbst lernen könnt, mit der Live Coding Software Hydra interaktive Visuals zu gestalten, und: how to play with display!

Kommt vorbei für Brot und Salz, zum Kennenlernen, Kisten ausräumen, zum Umschauen und gemeinsam displays Einschalten!

MI 25.02. 12:00-14:00 display on display: Mittagessen mit den Gestalter*innen von display. Marcel Backscheider, Jean Böhm und YRD.Works erzählen von ihrer Arbeit, warum der Raum so grün geworden ist und freuen sich auf euer Interesse.
DO 26.02. 17:30-18:30 AI Touch to Go: AI Frankfurt Rhein Main e.V. liefert praktische Updates zu nützlichen aktuellen Entwicklungen im Kontext von AI. Heute: Notizen strukturieren
SA 28.02. 12:00-16:00 Digitale Welten Hackday: Kinder- und Jugendangebot mit Löten, Basteln und ganz viel über Computer Entdecken. Alle zwei Wochen, für junge Tech-Fans und alle, die es werden wollen, die gerne experimentieren und mit Technik basteln.
