Carolin Liebl (DE) is an artist and new media researcher. Since 2010, she is studying electronic arts at the Offenbach University of Art and Design, Offenbach am Main. Her artworks are multidisciplinary, covering among others installations, games, interactive devices and visual performances. Since 2012 she is collaborating regularly with Nikolas Schmid-Pfähler. The artists develop media sculptures, installations as well as video and performance projects. Their installations address the intrinsicality of robots and explore the border until which a machine can generate the impression of consciousness. In their video and performance projects the artists deal in a humorous and critical way with the monitoring and behavior modification induced by handy cameras as well as with our dedicated belief in technology.

The artists were rewarded with the BEN Award (B3 Biennale), the Lab Award (Lab30) and naming at the “Nachwuchsförderpreis für Medienkunst” (Edith-Russ-Haus). Invited from the Goethe Institut Wroclaw they took up a residency at the WRO-Art-Center, where they held robotic-workshops. Their artworks have been shown among others at the Nassauischer Kunstverein Wiesbaden, the ISEA in Dubai (UAE), the Paraflows (A), the FILE-Festival (BR), the WRO-Biennale (PL) and the EMAF in Osnabrück.
