Dagmar Kestner
Artist
Dagmar Kestner was born in 1986 in Cluj-Napoca (Romania). She studied Textile and Fashion Design at the University Reutlingen and completed a Master’s degree in Fashion Artefact (University of the Arts / London College of Fashion). Her works move between fashion and textile art. In the work “Into Smithereens” (2013) she abstracts the artisan craftwork of Cavandoli Macrame into a construction method and creates wearable leather sculptures. This technique was taken up again in cooperation with the furniture company Overgaard; Dyrman as part of the WORTH Project (worthproject.eu) 2015. Kestner’s objects and fashion installations were presented internationally at exhibitions and used for stage shows and videos. In addition, she designs under the title 989 commercial leather jewellery and
accessories, for which she won the Deutsche Bank Award for Creative Enterprises in 2013.
