Maja Leo was born in 1988 in Hamburg. She works as curator, artist and theatermaker in Zurich and Hamburg. She studied theater and media arts at the Zurich University of the Arts and at the Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires, as well as art theory at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. She ’s co-founder of the collective Neue Dringlichkeit. Since 2015 she also works for the artasfoundation and curates the Tskaltubo Art Festival in Tskaltubo, Georgia. Her work focuses on art in conflict regions and artistic research, with a focus on collective knowledge production through performative practice. In 2013 she initiated the artistic economic research project “SAID TO CONTAIN:”. In 2016 she held a lectureship at the Zurich University of the Arts and the Swiss Federal Depart ment of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).
