In her workshop ‘100 Oscillators’ Dasha Hewitt invited kids and teens to build electronic oscillators that generate sound. An oscillator is a mechanical or electronic device that fluctuates between two things based on changes in energy. Electronic oscillators are fundamental building blocks of electronic technology. Computers, clocks, the internet, watches, radios, microwave ovens, metal detectors and synthesisers are some of the devices that use oscillators.
By experimenting with different electronic components, the speed of the oscillators were changed so they created different sounds.
