Introduction to vvvv, VideoFX & Compositing

Get a short introduction to vvvv and learn how to use chains of visual effects to get from zero to wow within minutes – Real-time graphics for beginners.

Who was the target audience of the workshop?
This workshop was ideal for people who wanted to take their first steps in vvvv and everyone who dreamed to have the layered, masked and full-­of-­effects power of Photoshop or After Effects but in real­time.

What did attendees of the workshop learn?
How to use more than 130 user-contributed (mostly by unc and lecloneur) GPU-based video effects and compositing modules dubbed TextureFX.

Chains of visual effects are easy to use for the novice yet quite exhaustive in their possibilities and since computed on the GPU do all they do at high framerates. After a short introduction we showed more advanced examples targeted at broadcasting, data visualization and vjing.

Anton Mezhiborskiy (*1981) likes when code drives images. He believes that even the most complicated things in the world can be explained easily when drawn and animated.

After years of working as a designer for various agencies he has joined vvvv to develop documentation and tutorials.

Anna Rack

Anna is a computer scientist devoted to the interplay of design and coding, as well as the interaction experience between humans and technology.

In 2015, Anna completed her Bachelor degree in Computer Science for Digital Media at the Bauhaus-Universität in Weimar, where she focused on Human-Computer Interaction and Usability. During her studies she also worked as a teaching and research assistant to the Usability Research Group headed by Prof. Dr. Sven Bertel.

After an initial internship, she is now fully employed as a software developer for the digital design office MESO Digital Interiors with a particular focus on realizing various projects with the software toolkit vvvv.

Together with Timon Skerutsch she develops, designs and implements the Digital Signage System for NODE17.
