Songs of Cyborgeoise

Interactive virtual performance by BBB_

Since 2015, the artist duo BBB has been confronting the audience with utopian as well as dystopian scenarios in which the boundaries between the human and the digital seem to merge. BBB is a digitally advanced, interdisciplinary project that eclectically combines music, performance, design and contemporary philosophy.

With their new music performance Songs of Cyborgoise, BBB pose the question of how to imagine the future free of dystopian vision and speculate on a queer evolutionary scenario of technologies, people, flora and fauna on Earth. From the point of view of various embodiments of artificial intelligence, it tells about the world of the near future and enables us to take the perspectives of a globally networked entity and to embark on a journey through the feelings, fears and hopes of the world’s beings.

BBB_ is a post-digital cross disciplinary project, working at the interface of music, performance, art, design and philosophy. Behind BBB_ is the artist duo Alla Poppersoni and Alexander Sahm. Their work is a reflection of emotionality and irrationality in a world of global forces, Big Data and intelligent technologies. Poppersoni and Sahm present themselves as a mediator between digital and physical realities. While Poppersoni speaks conceptional lyrics in her own and synthesized computer voice, Sahm accompanies them with electronic Sound-Ready-Mades. The relinquishment of the stage transforms the performance into an intensive, club-like experience for the audience.

Alla Popp (no pronoun) is a digital media and performance artist from Kazan, Russia with a Diploma in State Administration and a Master in Transition Studies at JLU Giessen. Afterwards, Alla studied digital media and performance at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach, Tongji University and Athens School of Fine Arts. For Alla’s academic and artistic work, Alla won various grants including Frankfurter Künstlerhilfe, Mosbach Stiftung, DAAD and STIBET, residencies in China, Greece, Japan and Rwanda. In 2015, together with Alexander Traka, they founded the technologically advanced interdisciplinary music and performance project BBB_.
