Volunteer as a mentor!
Support our teens & kids program as a mentor!
Join us for this year’s Digitale Welten Festival: Urban Creators Hackathon in Frankfurt! Spend 3 days working with enthusiastic youth to develop projects that reimagine urban life in our city. Collaborate with skilled artists and help guide the young participants as they brainstorm and bring their visions for a better Frankfurt to life. Be a part of this exciting event and support the next generation in shaping the future of their city!
As a mentor, you can expect to:
- Engage: Work with young participants over 3-4 days, inspiring and guiding them through their projects.
- Facilitate: Help them brainstorm and turn their ideas into actionable projects.
- Collaborate: Partner with talented artists and other mentors who will support the projects with their skills and creative ideas.
- Support: Provide hands-on assistance and mentorship to help the participants succeed.
→ Basic Requirements
To become a mentor, you should be 19 years or older and enjoy working with teens aged 11 to 18. If you have experience in this area, it’s a plus! Good German skills are advantageous, as many participants do not speak English fluently (yet). Additionally, you need a current extended police clearance certificate. Once you’ve signed up, we’ll guide you through the process and let you know everything you need to know and do.
→ Skills
The goal is to provide participants with a wide range of support. That’s why we’re looking for a group of mentors with diverse skill sets, creating a friendly and supportive environment for everyone involved. You have expertise in coding, design, crafting, tinkering, electronics, music, education, social work or some other comparable field? Awesome – come join us!
It’s very important to us to enable everyone to participate. Therefore, feel free to contact us if there are any restrictions or obstacles for you regarding the event. We are more than happy to work together to find a solution.
→ What should you bring?
- Commitment to teamwork and engagement
- The ability to work independently and conscientiously
- Enjoyment of and ideally initial experience in working with young people
- The motivation to contribute your own skills, ideas, and questions
- We need a current extended police clearance certificate (“erweitertes Führungszeugnis”) from you. You will receive a document from us for the application so that you don’t have to pay anything. More info here.
→ What’s in it for you?
- A pedagogical introduction and briefing to your tasks
- An amazing atmosphere and excited young experts around you
- Tasty food, snacks and drinks
-
